As the local Green Party representative for the area, I fully support the excellent work that Res4real have done over the past number of years in highlighting serious issues with the project and the communication of the RPA.  I have firsthand experience of working in a voluntary capacity for communities in similar situations and am fully aware of the level of commitment needed to sustain a campaign such as this.  I also know of the frustrations of being ignored by government departments and state bodies.  This is hard to take given that it is our tax money that pays for the project.

Having canvassed extensively in the area over the past 2 years I know that most residents are in favour of the project but angry at the lack of effective consultation.   Metro North, if properly managed and run, will be a huge boost to the area.  But it need acceptance in the community and I offer my support to Res4real in their ongoing work.  In the past I have done the following:

-          Leafleted the areas with information on the project

-          Met with Res4real and assisted with the drafting of letters seeking proper access to information

-          Worked on getting the Oral Hearing webcast and the transcripts released at the end of each day

I look forward to providing whatever assistance I can in the future.
